NSAHO Pension Plan Home

If you become married (or equivalent)

If you were a member of the Plan before becoming a pensioner and you did not have a spouse or a common-law partner (as applicable) on the day your pension started, but you subsequently obtain one, your new spouse or common-law partner (as applicable) is not eligible for a monthly spousal pension when you die.

However, your new spouse or common-law partner, (as applicable) will be entitled to any benefits that may be payable to your beneficiary (for example, any payments that remain in the guarantee period you selected before your pension started) provided you name that person as your beneficiary. You can print out a Retired Member Change of Information form and complete the Change of Beneficiary section or you can contact us for a copy.
